OUR DIVINE HONOR Our Lord is precious because the Lord our God will honor us. "He (the person) that set his love upon me (the Lord), therefore will I deliver him: I will set him on high, because he hath known my name. He shall call upon me, and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and honor him." Psalms 91:14-15
If we obey the commandments of the Lord our God, He will honor us in this life and in that life which is to come. Therefore, we should serve the Lord our God so that we can honor Him because He will honor us in this life and in that life which is to come.
Learn the following truth because your life is precious.
THE REASONS FOR OUR HONOR I. Our life is honorable because we can become a Spiritual Person. "And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God you whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ." 1 Thessalonians 5:23 "And as we have borne the image of the earthy (the earthly man who possesses a physical body, and an Eternal Soul and Spirit), we shall also bear the image of the heavenly" (the Spiritual Person who possesses a Spiritual Body, and an Eternal Soul and Spirit.) 1 Corinthians 15:49
II. Our life is honorable because we can become a partaker of the Divine Nature of God. "It is written in your law, (the law of Moses), I said Ye (created men) are gods. If he called them gods, unto whom the word of God came, and the Scripture cannot be broken." John 10:34-35 "God hath given unto us many exceeding great and precious promises; that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust." 2 Peter 1:4
III. Our life is honorable because we can become Immortal in that world which is to come. "Behold, I show you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality. So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory." 1 Corinthians 15:51-54
THE REQUIREMENTS FOR OUR HONOR I. If we desire to be honored, we must seek the Lord because with Him there is honor. "By humility and the fear of the Lord are riches, and honour, and life." Proverbs 22:4
II. If we wish to be honored, we should seek godly wisdom and godly understanding. "Happy is the man that findeth wisdom and the man that getteth understanding. For the merchandise of it is better than the merchandise of silver, and the gain thereof than find gold. She is more precious than rubies; and all the things thou canst desire are not to be compared unto her. Length of days is in her right hand; and in her left hand riches and honour." Proverbs 3:13-16
III. If we desire to be honored, we need to be righteous in this life. "He that followeth after righteousness and mercy findeth life, righteousness and honour." Proverbs 21:21
IV. If we wish to be honored, we ought to do good works. "But glory, honor, and peace, to every man that worketh good; to the Jew first, and also to the Gentile." Romans 2:10
V. If we desire to be honored, we ought to seek for honor. "To them who (the Christians) by patient continuance in well doing seek for glory and honor and immortality, eternal life." Romans 2:7
THE BLESSINGS OF OUR HONOR I. We shall be honored because we will be given a crown of life. "Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him." James 1:12
II. We shall be honored because we will be given a robe of righteousness. "He that overcometh (the forces of evil), the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels." Revelation 3:5
III. We shall be honored because we will be able to rule eternally over Satan in our Heavenly Home. "And there shall be no night there; and they need no candle, neither light of the sun; for the Lord God give them light: and they shall reign (rule) for ever and ever'' (over the powers of Satan).
